World Vision's donation box at the Parachute Music Festival in Hamilton received an unexpected boost from two fund-raising teenagers.

Cheree Kinnear and Larissa Frankhum, both 15, rushed to the World Vision site on Friday (Jan 27) to make an impressive $266 donation.

The two friends had gone 40 days just eating fish, rice and veggies to raise the money and they've already set themselves their next challenge.

The generous girls have pledged to go a whole year without their favourite treats; fizzy drinks and chocolate, to raise even more money to help children in need in the developing world.

When asked why they decided to fundraise for World Vision, Cheree said: "We just wanted to help."

A month in to this year's campaign and the girls are sticking to their guns, determined to beat their 2011 fund-raising total.
