World Vision Events
World Vision is involved with a wide range of events, from
conferences to concerts to comedy to the arts. We are grateful to
the many organisations, musicians and artists who so generously
support World Vision through their events. Do you know of an event
that World Vision could be part of?

40 Hour Famine
The nation did it. More than 145,000 of you
registered to take part in the 40 Hour Famine over the weekend of
27-29 May 2011. Many of you went hungry, voiceless, technology-less
- you name it, we saw it... without food, without a voice, without
technology - it was awesome.
This year, the target is $3.15 million to help hungry
communities in the developing world, particularly in East Timor
where almost 50 per cent of under 5's are malnourished.
Inspired by those you know who went without? Why not donate
today and show how Kiwis are
'Going hard out for the hungry'!
Church Events
World Vision undertakes various events for churches to encourage
their bringing together Christian spirituality and participation in
issues of justice.
Recent events included a visit to New Zealand by Jim Wallis, in
partnership with The Salvation Army.
Girls Night Out
Owing to the impact of the
Canterbury earthquake and resource challenges for World Vision New
Zealand, we have had to reprioritise activity and resources
accordingly.
Girls Night Out has been a great vehicle to engage with the
Christian community and we hope to develop this event further to
achieve even greater success. But at the moment the decision has
been made to put this event on hold until the end of 2011. This
will allow World Vision New Zealand to put time and resource into
strategically redeveloping and launching the event at a later
time.
We thank you for your support and look forward to seeing you at
a future Girls Night Out in 2012.

Kids for Kids
Kids all around the world are the
same; they love to play, sing, spend time with their families and
learn new things. Unfortunately, hundreds of thousands of children
have a very different life because of where they live and the lack
of opportunities available to them and their families.
The year 2011 marks the return of the tremendously popular Kids
for Kids: Top of the World and Christmas concerts. These shows are
sure to delight children and adults alike.

Parachute Festival
Since it first began in 1991, Parachute Festival
has become an icon of the Kiwi summer: now drawing crowds of
25,000, hosting a giant tent city, and attracting the attention of
major New Zealand media. Each January it takes over Mystery Creek
Events Centre (Hamilton) with over 150 local and international acts
performing across six stages. And there's everything from hardcore
to hip hop, to electronica… to alt-country.
World Vision has a strong tradition of partnering with Parachute
festival to inspire festival attendees and encourage them to be the
generation, who feeds the hungry, restores, rebuilds and renovates
by sponsoring a child.
