Tony Campolo to speak at Parachute 2003
| | | |
27 November 2003
Tony Campolo is frantic. Right now the evangelist and writer
is recruiting young people to work in the worst slums in the US, keeping
up radio, newspaper and magazine commitments and at the same time fending
off demands from his publishers for delivery of his latest book.
“To say I haven’t got a minute to breathe is an understatement.
I have to slow down but so far I haven’t figured out how,”
says Tony speaking from his base in Philadelphia.
Tony is also working hard speaking at Universities - endeavoring to define
evangelicalism in a way that transcends the stereotypes coming through
the media.
His latest beef is wayward TV evangelists.
“They have made some erroneous and damaging statements about Islam
that have tended to polarize people in this country. I’m hard at
work correcting that.”
Despite the punishing schedule, Tony will be appearing at the Parachute
Music Festival
at the invitation of World Vision.
“Wherever I go I try to get people to sponsor children in third
world countries,” he says.
Plus see top Kiwi talent: World Vision artist associates will
be out in force at Parachute. Look out for Parachute Band, Soda, Felt,
Form, The Lads, Brooke Fraser, Colliding Traits, Everyoneday, AUSTIN and
Elevator.
Parachute: 24-27 January 2003, Totara Springs
