Fourteen-year-old Pascal has seen more tragedy in his life than
most teenagers. He had to bury both parents and three other household
members, who all died of HIV/AIDS.
Their shallow graves are at the back of the house he lives in with
his two younger brothers. Pascal is now the head of the household,
and dropped out of school to look after his two younger brothers.
He is very protective of his family, and does everything a parent
would for them, but it's a heavy burden for a teenager. World Vision
has built a solid new house for the boys as their old one was falling
down. Pascal still needs a lot of support, as his little family has
very few resources. World Vision staff are encouraging Pascal to return
to school, as an education will help the family long term. The two
younger boys are in school.
