New Zealand band WASH, which is a member of World Vision's Artists'
Associates Programme, has just signed a contract with US record label
Hydrogen Records, based in New York City.
"This is an amazing achievement, considering they have never
been signed to a major label in New Zealand," says World Vision
Events Manager, Annette Johnson.
WASH captivated the ears of the American music industry heavyweights
who recently flew to NZ to finalise the signing this Kiwi youth band.
Hydrogen Records have started the careers of some of the world's
biggest artists: Pearl Jam, Korn, Silverchair, Oasis, Rage Against
the Machine, The Spin Doctors, Dido, Ace of Base, The Fugees, Gloria
Estafan, Run DMC, Carlos Santana, Whitney Houston and Cypress Hill.
Hydrogen Records described WASH as an inspiration. "From our
first encounter with them we became huge fans. Their sound is what
we have recognised as being the music that communicates to generations
wanting so much more from the artists they currently listen to. The
discovery of this talent will have a huge affect on NZ music as WASH
blazes the trail for many other NZ artists to follow into the global
marketplace."
WASH will be shortly be heading to the US to tour the West and East
Coasts with their unique blend of rock/hop/rap/grooves.
NZ Tour dates are being planned for July and August to follow up
on WASH's second single Survive, just released onto NZ radio.
WASH are: Ivan Beets - Vocals Matt Nelson - Guitars
Garreth Smith - Bass Gavin Kerr - Drums
