JORDAN: Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Arrive
9 April 2003

A World Vision DAF truck is loaded with food supplies for the third country national camp at Ar Ruwayshid, Jordan.

World Vision is supporting a kitchen at the camp in association with the Jordanian Evangelical Committee for Relief and Development (JECRaD).

Originally third country nationals (TCNs) were expected to stay only 48 hours at the camp and the kitchen provided simple meals of bread, soup and humus. However, the reluctance of some TCNs to return to their country of origin has meant many stay for longer periods.

This has prompted the kitchen to supply a more varied diet. Currently the kitchen caters for about 270 TCNs plus a number of Red Crescent volunteers .

Caption: World Vision driver Ahmad Al Hassanat helps load the truck. He is the right man for the job. He was Jordan’s national wrestling champion between ’92 and 2000 (130kg class).
