More about this community

The Tarash community development programme is in Sirajgonj district, 200km north-west of the Bangladeshi capital city, Dhaka. World Vision has reached 168 villages with a total population of 126,213. Significant improvements have been made since 1997. Today, Tarash has 19 government-registered community-based organisations that are helping people develop the skills they need to get ahead, such as savings and credit training. Sponsored children, integrated with these organisations, are nurtured to become the future leaders of the community. Children now also have the opportunity to attend early education, and the school dropout rate has reduced immensely, as a result.
