More about this community

Close to a quarter of the Mumbai population (formerly known as Bombay) lives in slums. The Mumbai West community development programme encompasses 26 slum areas, and World Vision has reached more than 90,870 people. With the help of generous Kiwi sponsors, 80 per cent of newborn children are now fully immunised. Since 1997, income-generating projects have helped set the poorest of the poor families on a path of hope and self-reliance. Many young people are now equipped with the skills they need to face the future.
