Am I eligible for a tax certificate?
All World Vision supporters who donate by ongoing direct credit or credit card payments, and have opted for annual receipts, will be issued one.
When will I receive my tax certificate?
World Vision will mail tax receipts for the financial year ending March 31, 2008, in mid April, so you should receive it by the end of April.
How do I claim my rebate?
You’ll need to contact the IRD and fill out the Rebate claim form (IR 526), or call them on 0800 257 773.
What will my rebate be?
For the financial year ending March 31, 2008, you are eligible to a rebate for one third of the amount shown on your World Vision-issued tax certificate, up to the value of $630.
But from April 1, 2008, things are changing! New laws mean you may claim a rebate, for one third of total qualifying donations made, including those made to World Vision. This rebate is limited to the amount of your net income.
Do the new tax laws affect companies?
Yes, from April 1, 2008, the previous limit on tax-deductible donations (up to 5 per cent of a company’s net income) has been lifted. Companies can deduct their charitable donations up to the value of their net income.
What if I’ve given more than is shown on the certificate I receive?
All donations over $5 are tax-deductible – if you have made one-off donations throughout the year, you will have received a tax certificate at the time. If you’ve lost this, or need another one, just contact World Vision on 0800 800 776.
Can I donate my rebate to World Vision?
Absolutely. If you’d like to make your original donation go further, once your rebate comes through you can donate it to World Vision. Thank you to those supporters who choose to do this.
What if I’ve lost my tax certificate?
