A community is transformed

All the loan clients that World Vision New Zealand supports live in communities served by World Vision development programmes. Here they have benefited from clean water, food, agricultural and vocational training, education and health care. Now, through VisionFund, they have the opportunity to generate income and create new jobs.

VisionFund invests in the enterprising spirit of the poor, providing access to five basic resources (business know-how, microloans, new markets, information, and technology) that can help small entrepreneurs work their way to a better life.

The impact can be seen straight away. Families can afford more nutritious food, safer housing, and adequate health care. As businesses grow, parents can send their children to school, save for emergencies, and offer jobs to others in the community.

The whole community is able to build a better future

"VisionFund is a key ingredient in our efforts to enable the poor to work their way to a better life. When VisionFund is included in our well-planned, community development strategy, men, women and whole communities are able, with consistent business coaching, to escape grinding poverty.

We enable these gritty, hardworking entrepreneurs to create a better future for their children through their own hard work, integrity, and respect for others."

"Micro-lending and micro enterprise development are among World Vision´s most effective and sustainable programmes for poverty alleviation." Dean Hirsch, President, World Vision International
