Promote the 40 Hour Famine

Famine volunteers help organise the 40 Hour Famine in their local community, which could include a school, church, bible study group, neighbourhood or any other group that might be interested in participating.

What is the 40 Hour Famine?

It is a fundraising and education event, which raises more than $2.5 million every year to fight extreme poverty and injustice. It helps Kiwis become active global citizens and make a positive difference in their world through education, fundraising, leadership and school action.

Why help with the Famine?

The 40 Hour Famine allows Famine participants to learn about global issues that affect the lives of the children in need in developing countries around the world, and actively do something to make a difference.

There are several ways to get involved:

  • Talk to your school or organisation about participating in the Famine
  • Speak at school assemblies
  • Visit and support schools in small rural areas
  • Assist groups with administration related to the Famine.

When is it?
The 40 Hour Famine weekend is May 22-24, 2009 but we’ll be needing help beginning in February.
