Girideep
The Girideep Area Development Programme (ADP) covers a large area of land nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas. The programme has been operating since 1996 and sponsors over 1000 children. Although World Vision Canada now provides most of the funding, there are still some New Zealand-sponsored children in the programme.

Health
Health workers check children regularly, immunise the under-fives, identify those who are malnourished and provide treatment where necessary. Volunteers from each community train as community health workers and teach women about family health and hygiene. World Vision engineers work to improve the people's access to clean drinking water.
Education
World Vision supports local schools by improving buildings, supplying teaching aids, providing teacher refresher courses and salaries, and equipping children with school supplies and uniforms. Children who have missed out on normal schooling can attend coaching classes. World Vision also provides pre-schools and adult literacy classes.
Agriculture
Farmers learn modern farming techniques and how to take better care of the environment. Strategic alliances are formed with local organisations to assist farmers in future training and marketing of their produce.
Leadership development
Each community elects representatives to serve on a development committee. Members discuss the major issues facing their area, prioritise developments, learn how to monitor progress, solve problems and keep records. They also learn what Government benefits their communities are entitled to and the correct procedure for applying for them. Women are encouraged to be part of the decision-making process.
