Making water safe

One of 40 new wells with pumps World Vision has installed in Oudong ADP

Oudong Area Development Programme (ADP) has been working on improving people’s access to water. The ADP has been running training sessions on the importance of using safe water and decent sanitation facilities.

Forty new wells with pumps have been installed, and local people from ten villages have also been trained in how to maintain them. In addition, 30 homes in three villages now have tanks for collecting rainwater, allowing families to collect water during the rainy season to see them through the dry season. Three of these tanks have also been installed at primary schools, giving 1300 children drinking water during their school day, and allowing them to wash their hands at school.

Water filters have also been distributed to 300 families from nine villages, and two ponds have been improved, making access to water easier for more than 1000 people.
