A man with a vision
Hathila has a vision - he wants to see the lives of families in his village improve.
|
|
Hathila has a vision for his community.
|
Hathila is the chairman of his village’s development committee. Training provided by World Vision has improved his leadership skills and ability to plan and manage projects for his village, helping him to work towards the fulfillment of his vision.
According to Hathila, self-help groups are an excellent way for community members to work together to improve family incomes. Group members save money to make group purchases that will benefit their village and provide loans for members to extend their productive activities.
Hathila is working with World Vision to increase the number of self-help groups in his village. There are now eight self-help groups with more than 100 people involved. World Vision has provided the family of each group member with a dairy goat, giving them an asset and a source of nutrition. Hathila and the committee he chairs are helping the groups apply for registration with local government, which will give them access to even more assistance in the long term.
Hathila doesn’t stop with helping the adults in his village, he also has a heart for the children. He demonstrates this in a practical way by personally running after-school tuition classes to ensure children from his village have the best possible opportunities in the future. World Vision has provided him with the stationery and books he needs to run the classes.
Thanks to the vision of this man and the assistance of World Vision, the lives of the families in Hathila’s village are improving.
