Achievements
Since October 2006, Dumaria Area Development Programme (ADP) has:

Health and sanitation

  • Educated 1,250 mothers about giving oral rehydration solution to family members suffering from diarrhoea

Education

  • Assisted 13 students to attend driving courses and 28 other teenagers to attend vocational courses to help them get jobs
  • Constructed one primary school building and two school playgrounds
  • Provided refresher training for 29 teachers

Agriculture and food security

  • Constructed two check dams, two reservoirs and six irrigation ponds, helping families from 10 villages irrigate their farms
  • Trained 87 farmers in modern agricultural techniques

Economic development

A community brick-making facility is providing more income for families in Dumaria ADP
  • Formed 145 self-help groups where community members join together to save and lend money for small income-generating activities
  • Trained 173 self-help group members in book-keeping and finance

Child protection

  • Established 33 children’s clubs
  • Established 12 child protection units
The people of Dumaria still have a number of challenges ahead of them. During the next year, World Vision will focus on improving children’s education and health, and improving the economic status of families so they can better look after their children.
