Eliminating alcohol
The people in Jaganathpur village are trying to eliminate alcohol abuse from their area.
As the first step in this journey, in December 2007 a group of 200 men, women and young people visited three places where liquor was being brewed illegally, and offered support to those involved if they switch to a different business. The group also held a rally with the message, “One drunkard destroys many lives”.
The community plans to follow up with further visits to the liquor-making facilities. In time, they hope to rid their village of alcohol abuse completely.
