Love those trees
Only a few years ago it was very difficult to get people living in Kendua Gram Panchayat to plan for their future. If they could not see any immediate or short-term personal benefit in a project, they were not motivated to start. However, attitudes have slowly changed, with an amazing effect.

More people are planting trees for their children's future.

In 1999, some of the community was taken to another area for training in rubber cultivation.
World Vision formed links with the local rubber board, which continued the training.
Today 200 acres (almost 81 hectares) in Kendua is planted with rubber trees, as more and more people catch on to the idea of planting trees now for an eventual reward later.
The same people who once asked, “Who will wait seven to eight years to get the benefit?” are now saying, ”Seven or eight years is nothing. Even if we die, our children will enjoy the fruit of our labour.”
