  • Provided vocational training in computer and electrical skills for 77 youth
  • Renovated three schools where classrooms were leaking in the rainy season
  • Constructed additional classrooms in six communities
  • Provided desks for 1782 students who previously took all their lessons sitting on the floor
  • Supplied sports equipment to 31 schools, benefiting 3143 children

Infrastructure

  • Constructed large rainwater harvesting systems in four villages
  • Helped seven communities to improve their roads

Agriculture and food security

  • Trained 35 farmers in irrigation techniques and reducing soil erosion
  • Demonstrated the benefits of using worms in composting to 11 farmers
  • Held a horticultural workshop for 70 farmers to help them improve their yields
  • Assisted 600 farmers with the purchase of good quality seeds
  • Selected a group of 22 farmers to form a grape growers’ society
  • Established new flourmills in three communities, meaning women no longer have to walk long distances to the nearest mill carrying 20kg loads on their heads

Gender equity

  • Facilitated International Women’s Day celebrations involving 200 women; the theme was ending violence against women and girls

The people of Ratlam still have a number of challenges ahead of them. During the next year, World Vision will focus on health and education interventions to continue to prevent malnutrition and address the low literacy rate in the area. World Vision will also continue to work on improving people’s livelihoods through better agricultural practices.
