Charity and Aisha
While the first 21 years of Charity’s life were not easy, the skills she has learned through World Vision make her future, and that of her daughter Aisha, look brighter.
|
World Vision is helping Charity improve life for her daughter Aisha.
|
Charity’s parents died when she had just started secondary school. Left to care for herself, she found odd jobs to earn enough for school supplies for the next year.
After she had taken her junior national examinations, she became pregnant and dropped out of school to get married. While Aisha’s birth brought joy to Charity, her marriage only led to sorrow and soon ended.
Charity struggled on to bring up her daughter without any source of income. Aisha’s World Vision Child Sponsorship brought greatly needed support and when World Vision offered Charity the opportunity to learn to knit, she jumped at the chance.
Charity is determined that Aisha should have an easier life than her own and so is working hard to learn all she can about knitting and producing garments. She hopes to establish her own knitting business. Her difficult past has made her resilient and entrepreneurial, qualities that will help her to do well in business.
Through Aisha’s World Vision sponsorship and Charity’s determination, the future looks hopeful for them.
