Counting down
An Area Development Programme (ADP) begins with a small group of communities and gradually expands to cover a sizeable geographic area. As part of the programme, World Vision helps establish community-based organisations to enable local people to manage their own development. After the ADP is completed, these organisations will continue in this role. They provide strong local commitment to continue developing without being dependent on World Vision.
Blantyre Urban ADP has now begun its transition from World Vision facilitation of projects to local management. This allows World Vision to phase out sponsorship of children in this community. The transition takes two to three years and will be completed in September 2008. As this occurs, you will be offered the opportunity to sponsor a child in another location as we replicate this successful process with other communities in another ADP. Your continued support is helping communities help themselves.
