Since October 2005, Yangasso Area Development Programme (ADP) has:

water resources.
Education
  • Trained 60 volunteer teachers in teaching techniques
  • Taught literacy to 19 teenage sponsored children and seven members of agricultural committees
Children
  • Provided clothes for 350 sponsored children
  • Organised medical checkups for 2,650 sponsored children
  • Provided medicines for 1,200 sponsored children
  • Set up a children’s club
  • Trained children’s club volunteers
Health and HIV-prevention
  • Provided materials for a maternity ward at a health clinic
  • Educated 1,800 sponsored children and their families about HIV-prevention
Water and sanitation
  • Equipped four wells with hand pumps and drilled eight new boreholes
  • Trained 65 water and sanitation committees
  • Trained 45 volunteers to maintain borehole pumps
  • Equipped 18 community pump maintenance committees with tools
  • Trained 49 community members to construct sanitary latrines
  • Supported the construction of 200 household latrines
  • Trained 101 teachers and 173 water and sanitation committee members about trachoma, hygiene, sanitation and HIV-prevention
Agriculture and food security
  • Provided seeds for two vegetable gardens and continued to support 12 others
  • Trained 33 members of cereal bank committees in management skills
Economic development
  • Helped fund income-generating activities for 1,500 women’s groups and 180 income-generation groups through the Yangasso community bank
Leadership development
  • Provided tables and chairs for five community leadership offices
  • Trained community leaders to plan development activities, manage budgets, write letters and legally register social activities
