Families grow better life

Vadavada CDP paid for several men and women to attend a vegetable gardening course last year, which specifically targeted food security* and backyard gardening in an urban settlement.

Gardening course graduates hold their certificates.
World Vision supplied seeds and tools to the people from Vadavada who attended the course, and built a nursery to raise seedlings for sale at subsidised prices.

Crops grown included capsicum, corn, eggplant, pak choy and cabbage.

The vegetables provide a welcome addition to the people’s diet and a small income from surplus sold in the markets.

*Food security – access by all people at all times to enough safe and nutritious food for an active and healthy life.
