Farmers are improving their yields with training from Budekwa ADP
|
Achievements
Since October 2006, Budekwa ADP has:
HIV and AIDS
- Trained six community groups in HIV and AIDS issues
- Provided nutrient supplements to 20 people living with AIDS
- Provided school materials for 20 orphans and vulnerable children
- Constructed three houses for orphans and vulnerable children
Education
- Helped 10 school clubs to set up tree nurseries and provided training on environmental issues
Agriculture and food security
- Trained 440 farmers in modern farming and harvesting techniques
- Trained 142 people in better animal husbandry
Economic development
- Through a community savings and credit scheme, gave loans to 26 community members for farming and small business activities
- Trained leaders from 42 community groups in financial management
The people of Budekwa ADP still have a number of challenges ahead of them. During the next year, World Vision will focus on teaching better agricultural practices, livestock management and economic development projects, to improve the income of individual families. The ADP will also continue to teach financial management and leadership skills through community-based organisations.
