A hard life

Though he is only 14 years old, Jovith has had a tough life so far.

Jovith outside his new home.
Jovith’s parents both died when he was four years old and his sister was two. He then went to live with his uncle, who died only two years later, leaving him and his sister to live with their grandparents. His grandfather also died shortly after, leaving his grandmother as the sole remaining adult in his family. A few years later the family home was destroyed, leaving them with nowhere to live.

Bugabo Area Development Programme (ADP) worked with the community to restore some security for the family. Together they built the family a simple house. Jovith’s school expenses and uniform are provided so that he can continue to attend school.

Jovith says, “I thank God for what the ADP has done for me. I now live in as good a house as the other children in the community; something beyond my expectations.”

“World Vision has brought back our lost hope,” says Jovith’s grandmother. “Before their intervention we had nothing. I can’t imagine what our situation would be if it was not for World Vision. Now we are safe”.
