The following are some achievements in Bugabo ADP since October 2003:

Health activities in Bugabo ADP.
|
Health and Sanitation
- Held three days of health care training for 12 ADP staff.
- Held a nutrition seminar for 484 mothers.
- Completed the construction of a dispensary to serve three villages. It has its own latrine and contaminated waste incinerator.
- Provided subsidised insecticide-treated mosquito nets to 272 people.
- Held two days of training in malaria prevention for 34 village health workers and 18 village health care committees.
- Trained 1,009 mothers in malaria prevention.
HIV/AIDS
- Trained 108 women and young people to educate their peers about HIV/AIDS.
- Formed five HIV/AIDS clubs.
- Educated 123 people, including schoolteachers and school nurses, about HIV/AIDS.
- Trained 18 village health workers and community counsellors in home based care skills and held refresher training for 89 community counsellors.
- Supported 22 people living with HIV/AIDS through the provision of finger millet, soap and sugar.
- Supported 20 child-headed households to earn income by providing them with goats.
- Supplied 1,200 kg rice, 600 kg sugar and 360 packets of soap to child-headed households.
Education
- Supported 20 schools by providing them with textbooks.
- Supplied desks to 14 schools.
- Refurbished eight classrooms.
- Provided school uniforms to 400 children.
Agriculture and food security
- Trained 59 members of water user groups.
- Trained 154 farmers in vanilla cultivation and 171 in improved methods of banana production.
- Held three days of agricultural training in small animal farming for 93 farmers.
Leadership Development
- Created Muvitabu Community-Based Organisation (CBO) to facilitate activities in Bugabo ADP. Eleven community groups joined together to form the CBO. It is currently in the process of registering with the district government.
- Trained 20 CBO members in management, networking and fundraising.
- Trained members of 10 community groups in cooperative management, finance and registration.
- Trained 95 members of producer groups in food processing and preserving.
- Held five days of training in emergency preparedness and response for 28 people.
- Formed a village early warning system for disasters.
Justice
- Trained members of 17 villages in gender issues and education of girls.
- Trained 18 children to lead children’s committees.
