Thanks from the heart!

Joseph Jiduma from Dakama ADP tells of the improvements he and his fellow farmers have been able to achieve thanks to World Vision’s support.

I’m one of the 20 members of Muungano livestock group. Our group not only works to improve methods of raising livestock, it also provides support for better crop production of cotton, maize, sweet potatoes and sorghum.

Dakama ADP has supported our group and other groups by providing us with ox-ploughs at a subsidised price, training us in dairy farming and repairing the local dip tank so we can easily dip our animals to control tick-borne diseases.

By subsidising ox-ploughs, World Vision hasn’t just enabled us to cheaply obtain a useful tool for land preparation, it has also assisted us to increase the amount of land we can cultivate for both our cash crop, cotton, and our food crops, maize, sorghum and sweet potatoes. Before we had ox-ploughs, we used hand hoes to cultivate four to five acres of land per season. Using ox-ploughs, we can now cultivate ten to 12 acres!

I would like to thank New Zealand sponsors for supporting Dakama ADP and increasing our crop production and improving the wellbeing of our families.
