Major Accomplishments

Ibuga Area Development Programme (ADP) began its seed phase in 1995. In 1998 Ibuga became a full ADP and the first sponsored children were recruited. There are now 1,975 sponsored children in the ADP

Teachers become the students at
teacher refresher training seminars.
The following are Ibuga ADP’s major accomplishments since its inception in 1995:

Health and Sanitation
  • Constructed a dispensary.
  • Dug five pit latrines.
  • Trained 30 village health workers, 36 traditional birth attendants and 28 community counsellors.
  • Supplied delivery kits to 25 traditional birth attendants.
  • Provided bicycles to 28 community counsellors.
HIV/AIDS
  • Held a bicycle rally for 200 people.
  • Held a soccer tournament for 14 soccer teams; three HIV/AIDS drama groups helped run the tournament and promoted HIV prevention to the young people.
  • Distributed 900 copies of HIV/AIDS educational booklets to 25 primary schools.
  • Supported 77 orphans with school fees.
  • Trained 55 members of community HIV/AIDS committees.
  • Trained 80 leaders of faith-based organisations and churches.
Education
  • Constructed 30 classrooms and 10 teachers’ offices.
  • Furnished classrooms with 50 chairs and tables and 295 desks.
  • Distributed 5,774 school books.
  • Provided three mock examinations for students in standards four and seven.
  • Conducted five refresher-training seminars for teachers.
Children
  • Supplied 2,000 kg of food for orphans and vulnerable children.
  • Provided over 2,000 insecticide-treated mosquito nets and 1,800 bed sheets.
Agriculture and livestock
  • Provided 23,300 kg of seed to 894 farmers.
  • Provided farmers with 15,500 kg of fertiliser, 800 litres of insecticide and 350 litres of herbicide.
  • Provided dairy cows to 170 farmers.
  • Trained 44 farmers in vanilla production.
Spiritual Development
  • Held training workshops for church leaders, women, youth and children.
Leadership Development
  • Trained 22 people, two from each village, to form an ADP committee.
  • Trained 60 village leaders.
  • The ADP committee and village leaders were trained in crop production, keeping dairy cows, networking, gender equality, budgeting, project and financial management and auditing, planning and evaluating developmental projects.
