On the mend
Kashenge Primary School was struggling to accommodate all of its students. In September 2007, while the students were on mid-term break, a grass thatched classroom collapsed, leaving only one classroom for four classes.
“Thanks to God it did not happen while pupils were at school, as it could have resulted in a bad accident,” says the head teacher.
It left the school in situation that was less than ideal: while one class had lessons inside, another would be taught out on the balcony. The other two classes would play outdoors and wait their turn for lessons.
World Vision has since worked with the community to build a new classroom, making life at Kashenge School a lot more comfortable.
