Some of Ibuga ADP’s recent achievements:

Farmers learn about livestock management.
  • Built two teachers’ offices and six classrooms, and provided 120 desks to primary schools.
  • Provided refresher training for 210 primary school teachers.
  • Trained 48 children’s committee members in children’s rights.
  • Built one dispensary.
  • Held 11 public meetings to educate the community about prevention of HIV/AIDS and malaria, and supplied 25 schools with books about HIV/AIDS.
  • Trained 76 village health workers, traditional birth attendants and community counsellors in basic health care.
  • Supported 77 orphans with school fees and books, and built a house for one sponsored child who did not have adequate shelter.
  • Trained 894 farmers in improved methods of crop and livestock production.
  • Supplied 60 farmers with dairy cattle.
  • Sent 45 ‘contact farmers’ on a study trip to the Maruku Agricultural Institute to view new crops and farming techniques. Contact farmers are responsible for passing on their knowledge to other farmers in the area.
  • Trained 46 village leaders in leadership, management, monitoring, evaluation and fundraising skills.
  • Trained 43 young people in managing small businesses.
