World Vision has built eight new classrooms in Magugu ADP
|
Achievements
Since October 2006, Magugu Area Development Programme (ADP) has:
Health and sanitation
- Conducted malaria prevention campaigns in nine villages
- Provided 1500 insecticide treated nets at a subsidised price
- Conducted seminars on community hygiene and HIV and AIDS for 23 village health workers and 10 traditional birth attendants
HIV and AIDS
- Trained and equipped 40 people to make home visits to children affected by HIV and AIDS
- Provided school uniforms for 100 children affected by HIV and AIDS
Education
- Constructed eight classrooms and two staff offices
Agriculture and food security
- Conducted a meeting about food security for 32 community leaders
- Trained 33 farmers and agricultural workers in modern agricultural practices
- Distributed 800kg of maize and sorghum seeds to farmers and visited recipients to check on their progress
Economic development
- Trained 47 leaders in how to form community business organisations
Leadership development
- Trained 39 committee members in managerial skills, planning, evaluation and gender and advocacy issues
The people of Magugu still have a number of challenges ahead of them. During the next year, World Vision will focus on agriculture, economic development, HIV and AIDS and leadership development.
