Achievements
Since October 2006, Mporokoso ADP has:
- Provided a six-week training programme for eight traditional birth attendants in safe delivery methods, as well as prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV
- Educated the community about malaria prevention and treatment
- Held meetings for project management committee members and provided training in what the roles of chairperson and secretary entail as well as allocation of resources
- Established a junior project management committee, so that children have a say in the community’s development
- Trained 16 committee members in sponsorship management
- Conducted quarterly meetings with the community, to discuss the ADP’s goals and progress
- Collaborated with Zambia’s Ministry of Health in a campaign against measles
The people of Mporokoso still have a number of challenges ahead of them. During the next year, World Vision will focus on agricultural initiatives and leadership development.
