- Donated antibiotics and other medicine to the Nakonde Rural Health
Centre.
- Held a training workshop for 23 community HIV/AIDS caregivers. The
workshop covered basic facts about HIV/AIDS, the concepts of home-based
care and volunteerism, and how to provide basic home-based care to the
chronically ill. All the participants are now registered with Nakonde
health centres and have received lists of patients to visit. The volunteers
greatly reduce congestion and waiting times for AIDS patients who formerly
had to come to the clinic for care.
- Held a training workshop for 18 HIV/AIDS counsellors covering facts
about HIV/AIDS and counselling techniques.
- Held a gender awareness workshop for community members, village headmen
and the heads of local government departments. The workshop’s
objective was to create a core group to develop plans that address gender
issues in the ADP area. A field trip was undertaken, where groups looked
at how gender influenced such things as village institutions, division
of labour and community work.
