Playground equipment changing the face of schools

Playground equipment changing the face of schools
BERTHA MTESIGWA, BUKENE PROGRAMME MANAGER TANZANIA

New swings, slides and sports gear in 18 primary schools across Bukene community has improved enrolment with 97 per cent of children now in school!

I have seen these playgrounds bring joy to the children, help them build friendships, participate in sports events and encourage them to stay in school.

My team have also been working to ensure that families can continue to pay and support their children’s education by increasing family income. We started 26 saving groups and connected people to micro finance institutions to improve their business. Good stories are coming from these groups as people are obtaining loans for vegetable gardens, crop cultivation, food vending, tailoring, shops (dukas), poultry, goats and cows keeping.

This is making significant changes in the lives of many children and their families. Household incomes are increasing, children are in school, families have food security, and some even have improved housing.
Thank you for your support in making a positive difference in the lives of children in our community.
