It’s not uncommon in Mali for families to have multiple mothers and wives living together.
But Altine, who is in Grade 4, was feeling the strain as she lived with her parents, brothers and stepmother, all in the same home.
She’d help her mum pound millet for the family’s meals, but there was always tension between her mum and her stepmum. And she and her brothers felt it deep inside.
Quarrels made life at home hard for the kids.
Her parents were always arguing, mother against stepmother, father against mothers. Altine felt very worried. It was hard for her to play with her brothers and life at home was sad.
Your love helped bring peace and forgiveness.
Thanks to generous sponsors like you, Altine’s mother and other parents in Yehi joined a training focused on strengthening family relationships and creating more peaceful homes where children feel loved and cared for.

When Altine's mother returned from the training, she put into practice the lessons she learnt. She decided to go and ask her husband's new wife for forgiveness, and they reconciled, to the delight of all the family members.
Thank you for helping Altine’s family create a happier home.
Peace brings joy. Today, the relationships between the adults in Altine’s family are marked by forgiveness, respect and love for their children.
Altine and her brothers enjoy sharing family meals and playing without sadness or fear. Everyone now chats happily together.
Thank you for helping Altine’s mother, father and stepmother create a more loving and safer family life.
The training you helped provide has strengthened families across Yehi. They’re building a closer, more peaceful community where kids can thrive. Thank you!
