Life with clean water, plenty of food to eat, and safe places to play, learn and grow. That’s the dream for children, regardless of where they live.
Together, we can and are helping that dream come true, even in the world’s toughest places.
Tony Rinaudo, World Vision’s Principal Climate Action Advisor, is pioneering one of the world’s most exciting solutions to to help farmers regreen barren land in the world’s harshest climates – without planting a single tree.
Simple – but mind-blowingly effective – Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR) taps into existing root networks to regrow forests fast, without planting a single tree. Stumps with deep roots can regrow to mature trees within 1–2 years.
Thanks to the kindness of generous supporters like you, this method has already helped farmers in 29 countries across Africa and Asia to regenerate 18 million hectares of land. Allowing farmers to better provide for their families basic needs, feed their children and fight for a brighter future.
Just look at the difference in Tanzania in three years!
“I speak to people around the world who have given up hope, who think it’s too hard, that it’s too late. Nothing could be further from the truth. There is so much we can do and there is so much we should do,” says Tony.
You can watch this amazing documentary called
‘The Forest Maker’ to see Tony and his work in action. Mahi that’s possible because of generous changemakers like you.
In recognition of his work, Tony has been awarded the order of Australia AND in 2018 received the
‘Right Livelihood Award’ (alternate Nobel peace prize in the area of the environment). FMNR has even been adopted by the UN as one of its seven world restoration flagships. That’s a big deal!
Tony gives all credit to God, who he says revealed the solution to him in Niger’s wilderness.
“God is not only in the business of restoring broken people and calling them to Himself; He is also in the business of restoring a broken earth and making things whole again… When you work with nature, miracles happen.”
