Now is your chance to work alongside one of the largest global humanitarian organisations. There are two types of Ambassador roles available at World Vision New Zealand in 2023: Youth Ambassador (focusing on the World Vision 40 Hour Famine) and Advocacy Ambassador.

World Vision Youth Ambassador

World Vision Youth Ambassador

We are seeking a passionate young person to join World Vision as a full-time Youth Ambassador in 2023 (March – September). This paid role will be based in Auckland and will see you influencing young people to create change through fundraising and advocacy with the World Vision 40 Hour Famine. 

Your role will see you share your heart for social justice in both church youth groups and schools across Aotearoa – mobilising students to act and create positive change.

This role offers the opportunity to experience what it's like to work within the largest international humanitarian organisation in New Zealand. You'll get to witness the power of WVNZ’s work, and to frequently travel domestically. Depending on COVID-19 travel restrictions World Vision endeavours to undertake an international field trip with the Youth Ambassadors of 2023.  



Key skills and experience required

  • Recent experience (2021 or 2022) leading the World Vision 40 Hour Famine in either your school/youth group/church setting
  • Passionate about social justice and change
  • Strong verbal communication skills with an ability to influence audiences
  • Strong written communication skills and familiarity with programmes in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to take direction and willingness to work in a team as well as work independently
  • Ability to inspire and mobilise school students, teachers, and school principals
  • Ability to travel domestically frequently
  • Willingness to have all necessary vaccinations for potential international travel (cost covered by World Vision NZ)
  • Willingness to be featured in media and public promotional materials
  • Must have a clean criminal record (Police check completed by World Vision NZ)
  • Must have Full or Restricted drivers license by March 2023
  • Must have the ability to work in New Zealand
  • You'll also need to be able to vibe with our identity and be passionate about helping us to achieve it.




World Vision Advocacy Ambassador

<br>World Vision Advocacy Ambassador

We are seeking passionate young people to join the World Vision Advocacy Ambassador team in 2023. Your role will be focused on advocating for legislative and cultural change in Aotearoa through grassroots campaigning and research.

This is a volunteer role, for approximately 4 hours a week. You can be based wherever you are, and hold this role alongside work or studies. You will be joining a community of young adults to make ripples of change, co-creating and delivering campaign actions from approximately February to November 2023.

In the last two years, our Advocacy Ambassadors worked on a petition urging the government to pass a Modern Slavery Act, and helped get more than 37,000 signatures. They also contributed to reaching 3,026 submissions in support of robust Modern Slavery Legislation!

Key skills and experience required

  • Willing to use your time and talents to benefit others
  • Passionate about social justice and change
  • Focused and committed to participating in all meetings and actions
  • Willingness to engage friends, whānau and networks in advocacy actions
  • Recently left high school (2021 or 2022)
  • Must have clean criminal record (Police check completed by World Vision NZ)
  • Ability to travel domestically to main centres for 3 national Hui.
