The Chauk community is in a part of the country that receives very little rainfall. Many families live in isolated areas without electricity or running water.

Children need to walk long distances to collect water - often from contaminated sources. Between gathering water and sickness, children often miss school.

Many parents migrate from Chauk to search for regular employment and leave their children in the care of already struggling grandparents.
