Families in Chi Kreng community depend on rice, corn and soybean crops for their food and income source. However, poor irrigation means there are often food shortages, and children become malnourished.

Children are often sick from drinking unsafe water from local ponds and wells, which means they cannot attend school. The schools in Chi Kreng community are poorly equipped. Many children leave school without the literacy and financial skills that they need.
