Celebrating your impact

Muli bwanji? (How are you?)

On behalf of all children and community members, I wish to convey my gratitude for your generosity. You have contributed greatly to transforming children’s lives here.

When we began our work together, people in the area often got sick from dirty water, especially children under five. Access to safe drinking water was a serious challenge. Many children couldn’t read due to a lack of knowledge across the community on the importance of education. There were also high levels of food insecurity. Families were facing hunger every year because of a lack of modern farming techniques.

With your generous support, we focused on three main areas to improve children’s lives: reducing the rates of life-threatening diarrhoea by drilling boreholes, improving literacy levels among children, and improving food availability among households.

Along the way we faced a number of challenges, including COVID-19, a cholera outbreak, and periods of drought. Your generosity helped us respond to these disasters. Thank you for being there for your sponsored child and the families of Chigodi when your support was needed most.

Because of your tireless care, we saw significant improvements in child protection, spiritual nurturing for children, clean water and safe sanitation, maternal and newborn child health, and food security.

I’d like to share two stories with you that highlight these changes.

Before your help, 16-year-old Fainess wanted to leave school and get married because this was considered normal for young girls. But with support from the child protection committee you helped train, she learned about the dangers of child marriage and was supported to stay in school. Today, she is doing very well in her studies and reaching for her dreams.

Secondly, 14-year-old Ketrina was often sick from unsafe water. When you helped bring clean water close to her home, her life was transformed. “Now we drink water that is safe,” she says. “My community is now free from waterborne diseases. I’m now a very happy child!”

I sincerely thank you for your unwavering support, which has transformed lives, enabling many children to grow healthy, complete their education, and build brighter futures.

The children and families of Chigodi will never forget your kindness. I wish you abundant blessings as you continue uplifting another child and community in need.

Once again, thank you for your life-changing commitment.

Chigodi Community Manager
