Hope and vision
When you see 20-year-old Brishty standing confidently in front of her university classmates, you might find it hard to imagine how much her family once struggled.
Yet as a child, every day for her family was a struggle to survive.
They lived in a simple hut made of straw. While her mother cared for Brishty and her other children, Brishty’s father tried to find jobs as a day labourer.
But as hard as they worked, her parents weren’t able to provide three meals a day for Brishty, let alone meet other needs like schooling or even proper clothes.
Thank goodness a generous sponsor like you came along at just the right time for Brishty. Her mum shares:
“When the family was in a critical situation, World Vision came to our village and included my daughter Brishty in the sponsorship programme.
“First, Brishty received a glass for drinking water.”
After clean water, sponsors like you opened doors to early childhood education for Brishty and hundreds of other local children, and then primary school.
Brishty says she looks back on those early school years fondly, as the start of her love of learning.
While a kind sponsor like you supported Brishty through school, you also helped her family build a brighter future. They received two goats, vegetable seeds, and training.
As their goats grew, the family sold them and bought a cow to provide milk for income. That income helped the family pay for Brishty’s education.
