Thanks to the actions of Childhood Rescue supporters like you, 15-year-old Naima's dream is once again possible!
"I want to play for the Bangladesh National Football Team one day and make my country proud,” she says.
Her coaches agree she has the talent. In fact, she recently won the medal you see her wearing in a district football tournament.
Yet Naima’s family is incredibly poor. Her father has to support their extended family of seven on the unstable wages of a day labourer. Every day, he struggles to put food on the table, so school expenses for three children often feels impossible.
Naima’s family felt everyone’s life would be better with one less mouth to feed. With her older sister already married, Naima was next in line. So they arranged her marriage, not understanding the danger this put her in.
"I didn't want to get married," Naima says. "I wanted to continue my studies and become a football player. I felt my dream was slipping away."
Because of your care, Naima was able to go straight to the World Vision-supported Child Forum. These trained children contacted local police, who went to Naima's home and spoke to her parents about the terrible risks of child marriage.
This conversation changed everything. And one day before the marriage, Naima's parents called it off.
“When I heard the marriage was stopped, I felt like I had been given my life back," says Naima.
The Child Forum also helped Naima return to school free of charge, encouraging her parents to let her continue both her education and her football journey.
Today, Naima attends school regularly. After school, she heads straight to the football field, where three coaches travel every week to train young players like her. Her coaches believe she has the talent, discipline, and determination to play for Bangladesh one day.
"Every time I step onto the field, I remember that I almost lost this opportunity," Naima says. "Now I study harder, train harder, and believe that my dream is still alive."
