Follet tells me about her clean water
WILLIE EKOTANI, FIELD REPORTER SOLOMON ISLANDS

I meet Follet today who is 30 and has 4 children in her family. She eagerly told me how her life has changed recently, “I used to walk for 8 kilometres to fetch water four times per day. It was contaminated water but we had to use it for drinking, cooking, washing and feedings pigs. As a result my children got sick with diarrhoea and kidney problems.

"To me water means life. Without water my children cannot go to school. Without water my family clothes cannot be clean. Without water my family cannot exist."

“Now it only takes me 2 minutes to get to the dam site that World Vision built. I can quickly draw water for my family. Now I can have a garden as I have time to tend to it instead of getting water!”
