Ask New Zealand politicians from all parties to back the Zero Carbon Act.
Dear Members of Parliament,
I am concerned about the devastating impact climate change is having on our neighbours in the Pacific, especially those women, men and children already living in poverty. Without urgent and bold action, all low-lying developing countries face disaster. Children are particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate change.
I therefore ask that we, as New Zealanders, do our bit in the fight against climate change. We have shown leadership on big issues before, and we can do it again.
Please take action by passing the Zero Carbon Act: A new law to eliminate our net greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. This law will provide us with clear rules and guidance for a low-carbon future. It will set a long-term climate goal, give New Zealand a climate plan, and establish an independent Climate Commission.
It’s a good way to realise our commitments under the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement. It’s a good way to do our fair share in the fight against climate change.
