By sponsoring children in the Honiara community, you are making an incredible difference in vulnerable children’s lives.
Your support is helping the Honiara community by improving the physical, emotional, spiritual and social well-being of the most vulnerable children.
Through decades of experience, we have proven that the most effective way to help a child is to strengthen their entire community, caring for every child along the way. In fact, because of these community-focused solutions, for every child you sponsor, 4 more benefit too!
Together, we are tackling the hard problems, changing mindsets and behaviours to address the root causes of poverty. We’re focusing on building trust and developing a long-term action plan for the Honiara community.
Help families earn more income to help cover school fees and understand the importance of education.
Train children and adults on child rights and child protection, empowering them to help keep children safe.
Increase the community’s preparedness to protect children from the impacts of disasters like floods, cyclones and rising sea levels.
“I have learnt a lot in this training relating to leadership. Women can be influential leaders but for the case of Melanesian women, we always believe the norm that women only belong in the kitchen and to look after the family and our voices do not matter in the community. I have learnt that we also can be leaders and the decisions we make are important for our children.”

"We used to walk far to fetch water for drinking, cooking, washing, and bathing in a stream that flows through the end of the community. When it rains, we will not be able to drink from the water source because it is dirty and makes us sick. Today, we are happy because we have a water tank close to the village that is provided for us by World Vision. My friends and I are no longer walking far distances to get clean drinking water because the tank is right in our village.”

Read Janet's storyWe will partner with the Honiara community until 2035. Starting by building trust and establishing a clear understanding of the needs of the community. We will work together to establish and deliver sustainable projects that strengthen the community, making it a place where children thrive.
Starting 2025
Solomon Islands are a fish lover’s dream. It’s where the fish are big, the water’s warm, and the reels never stop spinning. People come from all over the world to cast a line here.
The locals have been fishing these waters for generations with skills that’ll impress any pro fisher. The ocean’s like a giant buffet: yellowfin tuna, mahi-mahi, giant trevally, the list goes on. Some are so big, they’ll give your arms a workout. You can fish in the sea, the rivers, or even little jungle streams.
Fishing isn’t just fun, it’s essential. It feeds families, brings in money, and keeps traditions alive. While Solomon Islands are known to a few adventurous anglers, they remain largely overlooked and so do the communities who call these waters home. Supporting local livelihoods here means preserving both the environment and generations of fishing knowledge.
